Happy Friday! It's been a long week, and these kids are ready for a restful weekend!

What did we do this week???

We continued to learn about place value in math. We learned how to write numbers in standard, word and expanded form. We also started to talk about the powers of ten when multiplying and dividing.

In reading this week, we continued to read aloud our extended text, A Long Walk to Water. The kids are enjoying learning about Salva, a lost boy of Sudan, and his journey through Africa during the war. (Students who go to Read 180 are not reading this book.)

We worked on our Superhero writing pieces this week. They are hanging in the hallway, stop by and take a look! Next week we will begin learning about the writing process, and we will begin working on informational writing.

We spent a lot of time identifying nouns, pronouns, verbs and adjectives this week. Next week we will continue to practice all of these and we will learn about adverbs.
We continued working on understanding the parts of a map. We learned the acronym HOMES to help us remember the Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior). Spelling will count on our test next Friday! We will spend time next week going on a virtual road trip of all the landforms on our study guide!
